Outdoor Wood Boilers

An outsider wood boiler will save the owner a lot of money in fuel costs; replacing the typical fuel oil or propane with easier to obtain wood or logs.

An outdoor wood boiler is often referred to as a wood boiler that sits outdoors or outside, as opposed to a wood stove or wood furnace that is in your home; this wood boiler sits outside next to your pile of firewood or logs.

WE also have outside water-less wood and coal furnace!

A wood boiler that sits outside looks like a small outdoor shed that typically holds your tools and lawnmower and is made from the steel siding that most steel buildings are made with.

HyproTherm Wood Boiler

The HyproTherm Outside Wood Boiler comes in two varieties; the typical front loading model where you have to load or often manhandle the logs to get them into the wood boiler.

We also have a much better top load wood boiler because as the name implies, you load wood or logs from the top, often with heavy equipment such as a backhoe, forklift or even a dump truck.

Top Loading Wood Boiler

We have top loader wood boilers that will heat up to 60,000 sq. ft!

Outside Wood and Coal Boiler

A typical outdoor wood boiler will not burn coal but the HyproTherm Outdoor Boiler will. Our wood boiler will burn wood and logs better but will also burn coal because we have a forced air fan in the back, that blows air up through the grates, just like a blacksmith's forge. This is the way that an outdoor coal boiler must work. It is the only way to burn coal and is the best way to burn firewood and logs because the fire gets so hot there is no unburned wood leftover.

Wood Boiler Ash Trays

Our outdoor wood and coal boilers enable you to clean out the wood ash and coal quite easily because we have an ash pan that is easily removable so that you can dump the ash easily without having to open the wood or coal loading door and letting out all of your precious heat from your wood boiler outside.

Outdoor Boiler Thermostat

All of the outdoor wood and coal boilers that we sell are pre-wired and come with reliable digital Ranco thermostats for the ultimate control of your wood boiler temperature.

Outside Wood Boiler Parts

Your wood boiler parts are available most any where because they are off-the-shelf wood boiler parts. There are no proprietary wood boiler parts that you have to buy from us. Neither NC Boilers or HyproTherm (outside) Wood Furnace uses anything special that is just made for our wood boilers. You can buy these wood boiler parts on eBay, Amazon or at many local plumbing supply houses. Almost every wood or coal boiler part can be purchased locally if you don't want to have it dropped shipped from a wood boiler supplier.

You can also buy any part you need for your outdoor wood boiler from Abbott Boiler Parts at 828-687-4074. Ted is an expert on wood boilers and handles parts for almost every brand of wood boilers.

Why Do You Want an Outside Wood Boiler?

Most people that have an outdoor wood furnace originally used an indoor wood stove to heat their home and are very familiar with burning wood. However, that meant they had to time any outings to get back home to refill their stove or they would have to start all over trying to get the fire started and or get the house back to a reasonable temperature. This also means that you have interrupted sleep, usually at 3AM in order to fill your wood stove again, in order to make it through the night!

These same people had a trail of debris from when they brought the firewood into the home to where the massive wood pile usually sat, next to their indoor stove. This wood is filled with bugs and gives off a "nature smell" from being out in the elements. With an wood boiler outside, all the bugs that are typically found in wood and the wood debris is outside; not in your lovely home.

Heat Domestic Hot Water with an Outdoor Wood Boiler

The HyproTherm outdoor boiler will readily heat your domestic hot water as it is shipped from the factory. Unlike most other manufacturers, you don't have to buy an external heat exchanger like a side-arm or a plate heat exchanger to heat your hot water. The hot water heat exchanger is built into the HyproTherm Outside Wood Boiler; saving you approximately $300 for the heat exchanger and an anti-scald valve, which our wood boiler doesn't require because a thermostat controls the water flow and therefore the temperature.

Using an outdoor wood or coal boiler to heat your domestic water saves you a tremendous amount on electric or fuel costs because that is normally about 1/3 of the expense in the normal household.

The water in the wood boiler, with its necessary chemicals DOES NOT mix with your domestic hot water because it is a totally separate copper coil sitting immersed in the big tank of hot water, outside in the boiler but the water never mixes together; it only absorbs the heat from the big tank of hot water.

Wood Boiler Safety

An outdoor wood boiler is much safer than an indoor wood stove. An outdoor wood furnace lets you sleep peacefully because you know the fire is outside! Chimney fires in your home are a thing of the past and can be very dangerous. If you have a chimney fire outside in the wood boiler, there is nothing to catch fire because the wood boiler is 100% steel with the exception of the insulation. The special wood boiler insulation we use can withstand 1800F as demonstrated in this video with a blow torch directly on the insulation, with owners hand right underneath.

Summary

An outside wood boiler should be a serious contender when searching for ways to save on your heating bill. Usually, it will eliminate your fuel bill almost 100% depending on the heating system that you have now. Some heating systems still require a blower or a pump to operate but we have pumps that only require 40 watts!
